Aqua Holidays at NAQDA Circuit Bungalows

National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) was established in 1999 under the provisions made available by the National Aquaculture Development Authority Act (No. 53 of 1998). It is the main state sponsored organization mandated for the task of development of the aquaculture and inland fisheries sector in Sri Lanka. Presently, it is coming under the purview of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
Our Mandate

 

  • To develop aquaculture and aquaculture operations, with a view to increase fish production and fish consumption in the country;
  • To promote the creation of employment opportunities through the development of fresh water aquaculture, brackish water aquaculture, coastal aquaculture and mariculture;
  • To promote the farming of high valued species including ornamental fish for export;
  • To promote the optimum utilization of aquatic resources through environmentally friendly aquaculture programmes;
  • To promote and develop small, medium and large scale private sector investment in aquaculture;
  • To manage, conserve and develop aquatic resources used for aquaculture and aquaculture operations;
  • To prepare and implement and assist in preparing and implementing plans and programmes for the management, conservation and development of aquaculture and aquaculture operations.
