Hon. Felix Perera, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources have appointed Mr. Munidasa Premachandra as the new chairman of NAQDA. Before assuming the position of Chairman, NAQDA Mr Munidasa Premachandra served as a Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, therefore he is no stranger to the Aquaculture & Fisheries Sector.

Mr. Munidasa Premachandra received his preliminary education in Bingiriya Central College at Bingiriya., and entered into Active Politics. From the year 1976 to date he is the chief organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Bingiriya Electorate. Mr. Munidasa Premachandra was a Member of Parliament representing the Bingiriya Electorate from 1989-2001. He also has held major positions in the public sector such as director Land Reforming Commission of Sri Lanka, and Director of Janatha Estate Development Board. Also Mr. Premachandra has been appointed as Deputy Minister in several Ministries such as Ministry of Forest Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture Land and Environment and Ministry of Highways.
