The Director of the STREAM Initiative is responsible for defining and managing the strategic direction of the initiative and the day-to-day management of a programme of activities based on the STREAM Memorandum, following a livelihoods approach, and ensuring participation of key stakeholders.

Specifically, he will develop the STREAM Initiative strategy, chair the Strategic Planning Team, lead Livelihoods and Communications sub-programmes, provide overall management of human, financial and materials resources in conjunction with the NACA Director-General; build effective partnerships in support of initiative objectives; develop and support communications networks; plan and organize workshops and meetings; contribute to (and lead as necessary) policy support and special issue teams; develop and edit key communications outputs.

The National Co-ordinator of the STREAM Country Office in Sri Lanka will manage the office, including its human resources and financial requirements and operations, and develop and maintain a national network. He will be assisted by a deputy national coordinator.

In conjunction with the Communications Hub Manager, the National Co-ordinator's tasks include developing and maintaining a national network of stakeholders and the development and annual update of the Country Strategy Paper, building a network of partners with a stakeholding in aquatic resources management in the context of poverty alleviation, liaising with partners, eliciting STREAM Journal articles from partners, and contributing to regular regional web-based conferencing. He will also act as the key contact person with other government and non-governmental partners of the STREAM Initiative in Sri Lanka

The Assistant National Coordinator will assist the National Coordinator in  developing and maintaining a national network of stakeholders and the development and annual update of the Country Strategy Paper, building a network of partners with a stakeholding in aquatic resources management in the context of poverty alleviation, liaising with partners, eliciting STREAM Journal articles from partners, and contributing to regular regional web-based conferencing.   

He will also act as Temporary Communications Hub Manager, tasked with the management and operationalization of the national information hub (which links the Country Office with the Regional Office and national offices in other partner countries via the Internet). He will also translate from English into the national language and vice versa, support the National Co-ordinator to develop and maintain a national network of stakeholders in aquatic resources management in support of learning and communication, and act as a key national contact person for the STREAM Initiative in Sri Lanka.
